HERE YOU ARE ON OUR FAQ ( FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTION ) SITE
YOU WILL FIND ANSWERS TO MOST QUESTION YOU HAVE AND MIGHT EVEN NOT HAVE.
WHY ARE YOUR RENTALS SO CHEAP?
IS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT OR IS IT NOT UP TO SNUFF?
AS YOU CAN SEE AT OUR SITES, WE ARE DONATING ALL PROCEEDS TO DIFFERENT
CHARITIES HERE IN LA PAZ.
http://www.hacienda-del-sol.org/donations.html
WE FOUNDED THE HACIENDA DEL SOL MANY YEARS AGO AS OUR HOBBY AND TO
MEET PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE AND SO WE DO.
WE KEEP THE RENT LOW, SO THAT GUESTS WITH "NOT SO DEEP POCKETS" CAN
AFFORD A FANTASTIC VACATION.
BE ASSURED, THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR PLACES AND MOST
LODGINGS WOULD BE PROUD IF THEY COULD HAVE OUR HIGH STANDARD.
ALSO, SINCE WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS, THE PICTURES YOU SEE ON OUR SITES
ARE SHOWING HOW IT REALLY IS!
THERE IS NO "SURPRISE" WHEN YOU SEE IT IN REALITY.
WE DON'T HAVE TO CHEAT AND "BEAUTIFY" OUR PLACES. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT
YOU GET.
SO, WITH THIS BEEING SAID, HERE ARE
THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS:
Do you have air condition?
Yes, our houses have A/C.
If you promise to turn it off when
you leave the house, then there
is no charge for it.
The commercial electricity is so
outrageously high, with our low
rent we can't afford to pay for
major power use.
If you like to use the A/C more
often, we have to ask you for
$ 50 Dollar / week additional
to cover just a fraction of the cost.
Are there any other charges?
No, there is nothing extra beside
the final cleaning and we charge
only $ 20 Dollar you will leave on
the table when going home.
It goes directly to the cleaning lady
for the laundry and cleaning of everything
that needs to be done.
If you have left over food, please leave
it there. The cleaning lady can use
everything and has many mouth to feed.
How high is the tax?
Nobody knows what the government will come up with in
the future.
Right now it is 11% tax plus 3% hospedaje for a total of 14 %
Now the government in his infinite wisdom decided to raise
the tax on January 1st, 2014 to 16% for a total of 19%.
How do we make a reservation?
Just send us an e-mail and let us know which
one of the places you like for how long and how
many you have in your company and if you
like to have a beer with your name on in the
fridge. HA
Is there a secure way to make the
reservation?
Of course!
You see on our home page at the end of the site
a PayPal link. Just click it and you will be
directed to a new window for a reservation
deposit of $ 150 Dollar.
Remember, we are non profit and if you change
your mind about the vacation, your deposit is
not refundable and you did a good deed to the
La Paz charities.
Can we stay with more people
then a place is listed for?
If there is no alternative, then yes.
Almost every lodging has a twin
Futon Sofa in the living room.
To cover the extra cost of water,
electric, laundry, towels, we have
to charge $ 10 Dollar / day additional.
How to pay for our place?
The fee the credit card companies charge is
outrageous.
Therefore, we can't afford to accept plastic.
If you don't want to bring cash with you, just take
your card along with the PIN number and draw the
rent out of an ATM down here in Pesos, no problem.
As usual, the rent is due on arrival or the next day.
You don't have to pay the rent in full in advance
like at all the other places since we trust our guests.
Several times already we wished we didn't.
Where do we fly in to come to La Paz?
It all depends on where you come from.
La Paz (LAP) has an international airport and there are many options
to arrive here.
You can also fly to Los Cabos (SJD) and you come up by
airport - shuttle, local bus or rental car.
We love to send you detailed information when you are ready to
come. Just drop us a note.
Do we need a car?
Yes, you do!
La Paz is a typical Mexican city and the tourist infrastructure
is missing.
It is not a tourist trap like Cabo with all the rowdy tourism,
aggressive vendors, time share people and overpriced everything, but
where ever you are, right in downtown or a little outside in fresh air and quiet,
YOU NEED TRANSPORTATION!!
Sure, there is the local bus and you get a ride for only 9 Pesos,
but if the bus needs almost one hour for only 8 miles, this might be a little long.
Also, there are incredibly beautiful drives and beaches you have to see and enjoy.
You can reach it only by car.
Can we bring our dog along
and is there a problem with
other dogs?
We love animals and sometimes
they are better than their owners.
All Mexican dogs are very friendly
and laying faster on their back than
Monica Lewinsky. So, no problem.
How about a rental car, which one do you
recommend?
We have several big companies here in La Paz and
they will be pleased to give you a very nice and
almost new car.
The rental cost is fairly reasonable, but the insurance
will make a deeeep hole in your pocket.
If you can drive a stick shift, we will give you a car
for free. You only have to see an agency to make
the insurance for it. We won't let you drive without it.

Does the Hacienda have internet?
Yes, we have wireless, broad band high speed
internet connection.
So, sit by the swimming pool under the
palapa and go to the naughty sites or, God forbid,
do your business chores. HA
We like to stay longer and don't want to bring so much
clothing with us. Is there a way to do laundry?
We have a washing machine to use.
To cover only a part of the electric and expensive water,
we ask to put 20 Pesos per load in the little box.
There is also highly ultra modern timeless solar - dryer.
Some guests call it cloth line.
Do we have to rent always for a whole week?
Absolutely not. We have a minimum stay of one week, but after this it is by the day and
if you stay for a whole month, there is even a discounted rate.
We like to come in the summertime, but we heard it is hotter than Hell there.
First of all, nobody ever had the opportunity to compare the temperature in Hell and
came back from there.
La Paz has a micro climate only found at the wider La Paz basin.
North and south of here it is a totally different picture.
Only La Paz has a very comfortable typical desert climate with warm but dry days
and cool nights.
Even in August is the daytime temperature in the lower to mid 30 Centigrade, which
for the metric impaired is in the upper 80th to lower 90th F.
Almost every night comes the "Coromuel" wind, a local phenomena and cools
everything down, clearly below 20 degrees Celsius or for the metrically challenged:
below 70 F.
Basically, the winter is warmer and the summer cooler than at most places up north,
including southern California.
Sure, the temperature you read at the Internet is taken in the city, which is pretty hot
from the black top and the houses heating up, but just a few miles outside it is
totally different and if you are close to the beach like we are, then it is even much
cooler and very comfortable.
So, don't believe the reports from people who where never here in August and just
want to make them selfs look interesting or as knowledgeable experts.
Do you have shower and toilet facilities?
What do you think?
How can anybody expect with such low rent to have a crapper and
shower?
We have a nice outhouse about 50 yd away from the lodgings by
walking along the cesspool.
Since it is a DRY unit, it will be almost impossible to miss. SNIFF!
Just follow the intensive odor taking deep whiffs for orientation.
At night use a flash light. NO OPEN FLAMES PLEASE!! There is a
lingering of natural gas.
To make our guests feel comfortable and mingle with each other,
we installed a multi person seater in form of a tree trunk.
BE CAREFUL WHEN MOVING since there can be splinters.
It is always entertaining, talking with the neighbors about the last
dinner and the wonderful garlic sauce there was.
Please share the supplied newspaper after reading for cleaning
purposes! We found out that the "National Enquirer" is perfect.
For number one use the swimming pool like everybody else
and also for showers. As a more sophisticated solution, we have a
garden hose.
We never thought we would receive a question like this, but we
had already several, more or less similar.
We have no idea where those people had their vacation before.
Siberia, Afghanistan, Towamboo in Africa? But even there are
showers and toilets.
So, be assured that we have everything a high class place like ours
needs.
We even received the certificate of excellence.

This fantastic coastline drive is only a few
minutes away from the Hacienda.
Incredible places to hike, swim or snorkel.
But a car is needed to go there since there
is no public transportation.
What kinds of bed can we expect?
EVERY place has the option of a King - Size bed or two separate beds. Just let us know
before which one you prefer.
Also, ALL beds have excellent and firm mattresses for a fantastic "snore off".
GUARANTEED NO BED BUG!!
except for the one with two legs snoring beside you
We heard that the water in Mexico is not potable and we can get very sick from it.
Indeed, at some places on the mainland there can be a problem for the "Northern Lights".
People living in this area are not dead or sick, but some guests from up north have a
little problem witch the people here call so nicely "Tourista".
Mexicans traveling up north will have the same symptoms.
It is not the ice cubes in your drink, it is not the salad or the water, it is simply an effect
of different bacteria your body doesn't know yet and they are fighting each other.
To prevent the "Tourista", have every day a glass of Coke and you will be fine.
The water here and actually in all of Baja is absolutely clean and potable.
There is also purified water available in 5 gallon bottles. Most of the water companies use
a reverse osmosis system to purify the water.
To be on the safe side, we usually boil the purified water twice, add a purifying tablet,
boil it again, add for 5 gallons ten drops of bleach and then dump it and drink beer. HA
